Hey there Mike, Becky, and Chris,1) Eddies getting in and out remember your good friend SAT (SPEED, ANGLE, TILT) Remember the more speed the better.  Also really try as hard as you can to enter and exit the Eddy at the object creating the Eddy.

Eddies are so important they can really create a much safer environment for you on the river.

2) Safety gear A TYPE V PFD is a good idea but if you like yours already look into a SALAMANDER  Tow/Throw Rope  something like this you don't have to get one with Spectra http://www.salamanderpaddlegear.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=1_7&products_id=73

Also a WHISTLE so important, River knife is also a great idea Benchmade makes a great knife.

3) Boof -Speed and practice

4) Ferrying Keep those boats up stream remember that between 12 and 11 and 12 and 1 really about 1130 and 1230 is Ideal.  Try the STERN DRAW the more that you practice it the better.

5)  Knot we covered the Butterfly, Clove hitch, Munter Hitch, and talked about the Bowline.  Here is a site for you to use to practice these knots.http://www.animatedknots.com/

Paddle strokes to really work on are the forward stroke more rotation, Bracing avoid rolling, Draw strokes.
